A group  of five Bournemouth University Public Services students rode 300 miles to raise funds for the JTYAF and smashed their target amount with an amazing £664 in sponsorship! 

Councillor Steve Lugg, newly appointed Chairman of East Dorset District Council, has recently declared a year of support for two charities.  The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) was privileged to be chosen as one of these charities and would like to thank Cllr Lugg for his continued support. 

The 15 mile route started at the Barley Mow Inn at Colehill and took cyclists along the beautiful East Dorset country lanes to finish where they started, back at the Inn.  Families, leisure cyclists and several experienced riders took part. 

As part of National Care Home Day on Saturday Amberwood House Care Home in Ferndown hosted a commemoration of the ‘Battle of Waterloo,’ the proceeds of which will be donated to the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.  

The Bournemouth Air Festival now recognised as one of the top ten air shows in the world returns to its stunning seafront setting from 20th-23rd August.   This year’s John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation VIP Hospitality Day will be held on Sunday 23rd August.

John would have been 30 years old on April 12th and here at the JTYAF we thought that it was a fitting tribute to take on a 30 mile challenge in his memory.  The final test on the Royal Marine Commando Course is a 30 miler, across Dartmoor with kit, so 30 miles is quite a significant distance for Royal Marines. 

The Air Cadet Junior Leaders on this year's course XVI have raised an incredible £24,500 for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.  A huge amount which will make a massive difference to the opportunities that the charity can provide for young people in the coming year.

Daniel Nye, who in the past has run the Paris Marathon, numerous triathlons and most recently the Nice Ironman has entered the London 2 Brighton Ultra Marathon to raise funds for the JTYAF.

The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) has recently received two VVIP tickets (stage seating) worth £160 for the Snooker Legends exhibition at Lakeside, Frimley Green on Sunday 15th March. 

Royal Marine Richie Puttock will be taking part in this year's London Marathon on behalf of the Royal Marines Association and the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.

Matt Everett will be taking on the toughest footrace on earth, the Marathon Des Sables in aid of the JTYAF and Prostrate Cancer UK.

The Marathon Des Sables takes Ultrmarathons to a new level.  156 miles across the Sahara Desert under the scorching Moroccan sun in just 5/6 days.

The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) is delighted to announce that it has been selected as ‘Charity of the Year’ by the prestigious Porsche Centre Bournemouth.  Neil Lines, Centre Principal, has pledged a year of support for the charity which will strengthen their investment in local young people and help to raise the profile of the foundation across the region.

The trustees of the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) are delighted to announce that £75,000 has been allocated for awards to local young people for 2015. At their trustees meeting on Saturday the board agreed to increase funding this year making JTYAF awards accessible to even more young people.

The JTYAF was delighted to receive a generous donation from Stephen Young Lord of Westbury and Waxham.  

Bournemouth airport based pilot training centre Airways Aviation has announced its first Charity of the Year.

A wonderful Christmas single, 'Love From Home,' is this year going to raise funds for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.
