Junior Leaders Raise over £20,000!

The challenge for this year's Air Cadet Junior Leaders, Course 18, started last September and ran for eight training weekends throughout the year culminating in a 10 day Test Phase on the Stanford Training Area in Norfolk. This final phase was completed last week and the course finished off with a formal dining-in night in the Officers’ Mess at RAF Honington.

The course teaches a range of leadership and management skills, first aid, presentation and social skills using military scenarios to test cadets' new found abilities. The cadets are also required to organise a fundraising activity for the JTYAF which forms part of their qualification of Leadership and Management Level 2 award in Team Leading.

The cadets were not short of imaginative ideas when it came to fundraising events.  James put himself through an excruciating body wax , Sarah enlisted the help of 2493 (Alsager) Squadron and raised almost £400 bag-packing, and numerous physical challenges from the Fan Dance, Marathons, Triathlons to a 200 mile cycle ride were but of few of the activities organised to raise money for John's Foundation.

To raise £20,000 is an incredible achievement and this takes the total amount raised by Junior Leaders since 2010 to an unbelievable £115,000!!

The support of the Junior Leaders Course has repeatedly played a key role in the success of the charity and helped the JTYAF to make a difference to the lives of over 1250 young people.  We are are continually inspired by the the dedication and commitment of these outstanding cadets and we can't thank them enough for their support.
