40 for JT

In memory of Lieutenant John Thornton RM, the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) continues its mission to help local young people reach their full potential. Since its establishment in 2008, following John's tragic death while serving with 40 Commando Royal Marines in Afghanistan, the Foundation has supported over 2,500 young individuals and nearly 200 whole school and group projects.

As we approach what would have been John's 40th birthday in April, JTYAF is excited to announce the '40 For JT' Charity Challenge. This special event not only celebrates John's life and legacy but also raises crucial funds for the Foundation's ongoing work.

The Challenge has already sparked enthusiasm among local schools and organisations supported by JTYAF. ‘40 for JT’ runs from 29th March to John’s birthday on 12th April, giving almost 2 weeks to complete the challenge.  Volunteers and supporters are planning a diverse range of activities all centred around the number 40. These include:

  •  40 holes of golf in one session

  • 40,000 steps in a day

  • 40 good deeds

  • Run/Walk/Cycle 40K or 40 Miles

We invite everyone to join us in this inspiring event. Whether you’re an avid golfer, an enthusiastic walker, or a passionate musician, there’s a way for you to get involved and make a difference.
