Amberwood House Open Day Supports JTYAF
/As part of National Care Home Day on Saturday Amberwood House Care Home in Ferndown hosted a commemoration of the ‘Battle of Waterloo,’ the proceeds of which will be donated to the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation. A great afternoon was had by all with superb entertainment, tea and cakes and even a ‘Welly Throwing Competition.’
The JTYAF was privileged to be chosen as ‘Charity of the Year’ for the second year running by Amberwood House. Care Home Manager, Maggie Tomlin, recently presented a cheque for £1000 to the charity, the proceeds of their 2014 fundraising and Linda and Pete Thornton were delighted to hear that the JTYAF had been selected by the residents for another year.
Pete Thornton commented, “We have close family connections with Amberwood and we were very touched to hear that the residents had chosen to support John’s Foundation for another year. It’s lovely to see the older generation helping local young people and we are so grateful for their continued support.”
