Congratulations to Ben who recently completed the gruelling Dartmoor Ultra Marathon. 31.1 miles across the most arduous of terrains in the most horrendous conditions!

The Dartmoor Ultra Marathon was an especially poignant event for Ben to run in John's memory. The 31.1 mile route crossed the same hills and moorland where John completed much of his Royal Marines Commando Training. Dartmoor was always a much loved and special place for John, Ben and their group of friends.

Ben said that this race was the hardest thing he had ever done. An exhausting 7 hours in extreme weather around a mammoth 31.1 miles. As if 31.1 miles wasn't enough Ben and the front runners added an extra 6 miles to their total after the event signs sent them the wrong way! He was going really well in 3rd position when they were wrongly directed onto the half marathon route and back at the finish point...

Ben showed an amazing strength of character to complete this challenge and we can't thank him enough. He has smashed his fundraising too raising over £1000 in his friends memory.
