Coda Fiddle Orchestra - JTYAF Music Scholars

The JTYAF was thrilled to attend the Coda Fiddle Orchestra Concert at St Peter’s Church in Bournemouth and have the opportunity to watch the ten John Thornton Music Scholars perform.

The Coda Fiddle Orchestra is a participatory community music project that works with children and young people offering violin tuition and ensemble opportunities. It is run by Jack Maguire, former co-leader of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and has been running since 2004.

The JTYAF provides scholarships for young musicians on an annual basis and has supported the CFO since 2010. This year there are ten John Thornton Music Scholars ranging in age from 6 to 14 years and what a talented group of young people they are!

They are indeed talented. They would not have achieved this standard of performance, however, without the support of JTYAF. I neglected to mention at the concert, that one of last years beneficiaries is now studying music at Cardiff University. He would not have won this place without the JTYAF scholarship.
