Dorset Fire Cadets Making Music Thanks to the JTYAF
/The JTYAF was delighted to present awards to Dean Wilcox, Liam O'Leary and Adam West who took part in the Dorset Fire And Rescue Service Cadets Course at Christchurch Fire Station.
The Fire Cadets 20 week course is a uniformed youth development scheme giving young people the opportunity to work with Fire and Rescue Service equipment. This not only provides them with an insight into the work of the fire service but also enables them to develop leadership qualities and team-working skills which will be useful in other areas of their lives.
Dean pictured left has just successfully completed his Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award and has been working hard to achieve his Drumming Grade 4. The JTYAF award will enable him to start work on his Grade 5 and we wish him every success.
Adam a talented singer who was Head Boy at Christchurch Priory Choir applied for a bursary to support his singing lessons. He will enter the Bournemouth Music Festival in June, singing “Stars” from Les Miserables and aims to take his Grade 6 Music Exam very soon.
Liam is also a very talented musician and his award funded a keyboard and recording interface which has reduced the need for him to book studio time.
A definite musical theme for the Christchurch Fire Cadets and we hope that their awards enable them to achieve every success.
