Jamie's Half Raises almost £1000!

We were delighted when Jamie chose the JTYAF as his recipient charity for the Bournemouth Half Marathon. He not only smashed the 13.1 miles but smashed his fundraising target too. He aimed to achieve £750 in sponsorship and was amazed to raise an incredible £960!

We can’t thank Jamie and the friends and family who supported him enough. This funding will make a huge difference to the opportunities that we will be able to provide for young people in the year ahead. As an example of the difference an amount of £960 will make, here are some recent awards that this funding would have made possible.

•           A student from Ferndown Upper School, who has a love of music and has recently been diagnosed with Autism, has received an award for a keyboard to help him to develop and progress his ambitions as a musician.

 •           An award to help with fees and essential equipment for a Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award Expedition has recently been made to a local young man. Taking part in DofE builds confidence and develops self-esteem and we are extremely proud of our links with the scheme.

 •           A talented young ice skater from Ferndown Upper School has received a bursary to help with the cost of his ongoing training and development, and British Ice-Skating Tests.

 •           A young man from Christchurch Learning Centre who is a member of a boxing club and has ambitions to become an amateur boxer was awarded a bursary for shoes, gloves and a headguard.  We look forward to hearing about his achievements.

Massive thanks Jamie you’re an absolute star!
