Mess Tent for Christchurch Explorer Scouts

Christchurch Scouts.JPG

Christchurch Scouts have been Scouting in Dorset since 1908, spanning two World Wars and now this current pandemic. Covid-19 has had a huge impact on the opportunities for activities and adventures outdoors, but hopefully the scope for expeditions, camping and sailing will soon return.

When it does the 4 units of Christchurch Explorer Scouts will have a Mess Tent of their very own thanks to the JTYAF. The Mess Tent will provide a base for their residential trips and a space where activities can be managed.

Explorer Scouts are 14-18 and the section also includes the Young Leaders’ Scheme, where young people are able to take on a leadership role in one of the younger sections. There is the opportunity for activities like offshore sailing, campaigning, performing, parascending, mountaineering and expeditions. Their new Mess Tent will provide more opportunities for residential trips.
