Sunrise at Mount Kilimanjaro
/A student from Weymouth is travelling to Africa for an 11-day expedition up Mount Kilimanjaro.
He will initially start his trip in the village of Moshi at the base of the mountain. Over the next seven days they will ascend along the Machame Route beginning in the rain forest allowing them to see the exotic wildlife living there. They aim to make it to the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro in time for sunrise.
Mount Kilimanjaro stands at 5,896 meters above the savannah of Tanzania and is Africa’s highest peak.
The talented teen has completed the 35 mile and 45 mile Ten Tors Challenge and aims to take part in the 55 mile challenge this year. He is also working towards his gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and is a Senior Air Cadet in Budmouth CCF.
