Talented Young Organist Achieving his Ambitions

A talented young organist from the Air Training Corps recently attended an Organists Summer School with the help of the JTYAF, and we were delighted to hear how his award has helped him to progress his musical career.

He used his bursary to help him to go on the prestigious Oundle for Organists Course where he had the opportunity to play with some of the countries top cathedral organists.

He told us :-

The course helped improve my playing, which in turn has helped me to become an organ scholar at Tewkesbury Abbey and the Dean Close Foundation.

What did you enjoy the most?: Getting to play for top cathedral organists and also getting to network with other organ scholars and potential future work colleagues.

What are your plans for the future? : I hope to continue my role as Organ Scholar, playing for services in both the Dean Close School and in the Abbey. I hope to be Organ Scholar at Royal Holloway to study there in September 2023 and also hope that I can take this on as a full time career in the future.

What would you like say to all the people who donate money to the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation?: Thank you for giving me this opportunity, I wouldn't have the career chances or the scholarship if I hadn't been able to go on the course. Thank you so much!

JTYAF gave me the chance to attend a course that helped me achieve the career I wanted and helped me continue my passion. I'm not sure there are many people who think about there being organ courses, but to have the funds and to be able to go on a course with 50 other organists gives me the opportunity to continue showing my love for music and also to learn more and keep improving.
