The Dorset Plane Pull 2012
/A huge thank you to all the 160 people in the eight teams who pulled for the JTYAF and also to the many spectators who braved the weather on Bank Holiday Monday to come and cheer their teams on.
We had terrific support this year with teams from Sunseeker, Ferndown, Poole and Bournemouth Squadrons of the Air Training Corps, Crossfit Gym Bournemouth, One Tug Wonders, Ageing Pullers, White Heather Hauliers and our first ever girls only team, Girls on the Pull.
Teams took on the challenge of trying to pull a 35,000kg Boeing 737 fifty metres as quickly as possible and although the JTYAF came a very close second with Crossfit pulling in 34.2 seconds the winning team for the fourth year running was Castle Cover with 31.5 seconds. Our girl’s team did however beat the other girls only team, Polz Apart by an amazing ten seconds and next year the JTYAF will definitely be knocking Castle Cover off the top spot! This event is not at all competitive!

The Dorset Plane Pull raised an amazing £4000 for the JTYAF and Amber O’Dea with her team of ‘Girls on the Pull’, hauled in an incredible £1918!! A big thank you to Amber and ‘Girls on the Pull’ and to all the other teams and supporters who worked so hard to raise sponsorship for the JTYAF.
Thanks must also go to Richard Griffin who organised this great event, along with Peter Feltham, Carl Feltham and Chris Burman. These guys worked tirelessly to ensure that this event was such a big success and we are extremely grateful to them all.
Thank you also to the Air Cadets from Bournemouth, Poole and Ferndown Squadrons who helped on the day and to Samba Panashe (pictured below) and The Alibi who entertained the Plane Pullers and spectators with great enthusiasm for the duration of the event.
