The First JTYAF Scout Awards

The JTYAF is delighted to have expanded to include East Dorset District Scouts as one of their supported organisations in 2014.  Scouting offers a whole range of fantastic opportunities to young people and George Phillips, Robert Way and Ben Milward (pictured above from left to right) are keen to make the most of these challenges.

Robert and George were privileged to be selected as part of the Dorset contingent attending the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Japan in 2015.  The Jamboree has an exciting programme of global development, peace, cultural understanding, adventure, friendship and fun.  30,000 Scouts and Guides, aged 14-18yrs, from almost every country in the world will meet together and camp in a purpose made town for 10 days.  It will undoubtedly be a life changing experience, a chance to develop many new skills and learn to understand different cultures, all under the theme of "The Spirit of Unity."  Robert and George have worked extremely hard to raise the money to pay for their trip and the JTYAF is very pleased to help them with a contribution towards it.

Ben Milward, an Explorer Scout and a Young Leader with Verwood Scouts and Cubs, is keen to complete the final expedition element of his Chief Scouts Diamond Award before his sixteenth birthday.  The JTYAF is delighted to provide funding to support the purchase of hiking boots, a back packing tent and a compass to ensure that Ben has the essential equipment  for this challenge.

We wish George, Robert and Ben every success for their adventures this summer and look forward to hearing all about their achievements when they return.
