£85K for Awards in 2017
/The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) is delighted to announce that £85,000 has been allocated for awards to local young people in 2017. This announcement follows the Charity’s Trustee’s Meeting on Saturday and is thanks to the amazing support that they receive from their trustees, supporters, volunteers, businesses and the local community. The charity expects to have awarded £500,000 since its formation in 2008 by the end of this year!
In addition to supporting young people from the current 19 organisations the JTYAF has been able to expand and is now offering funding to young people from the Bournemouth Sea Cadets and Royal Marine Cadets. In addition to this the charity has increased its funding to Ferndown Upper School, the Guides, the Coda Fiddle Orchestra and Beaucroft Foundation School.
The JTYAF is also delighted to welcome Phil Jones, Headteacher at Ferndown Upper School, onto the Board of Trustees.
Pete Thornton, Chairman of the JTYAF, commented, “Without the time and effort put in by all of our trustees, volunteers and supporters none of this would be possible. This achievement is very much down to them and the fantastic support that we receive from the local community. We are looking forward to a very exciting year ahead and hope to see a great many young people benefit from John’s legacy.”
