A Good Day for a Spot of Fishing

Paul Hooker organised another great day at Holbury Lakes Trout Fishery. Four large lakes and a chalk stream set in 40 acres of outstanding beautiful countryside, deep in the Test Valley, offers the perfect venue for a day of fly fishing. Described as “one of the best-kept secrets in Hampshire” we were lucky to have exclusive use for the JTYAF. 13 fishermen and women enjoyed an absolutely superb day in the sunshine and between them they caught 40 fish, all but one of them rainbow trout. Several novices took part and they are hopefully now hooked on fishing and will be coming back for more.

Paul put on a BBQ with sausages kindly donated by Richard at Wessex Country Gammons and there were prizes for the heaviest bag and biggest fish, a bottle of port donated by Paul and a 2 Fish Ticket donated by George the Fishery Manager at Holbury Lakes.

The day raised a fantastic £350 for John’s Foundation and our thanks must go to Paul, George, Richard and all those who took part. A great way to spend a day and raise funds in the process!
