All Aboard for the Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award
/Fenella Houlton and Beth Dooley are taking to the seas as part of the assessment for their Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award.
Fenella has applied for a bursary to fund a Day Skipper Course which will allow her to take others sailing in the future. It will also give her the opportunity to complete the residential element of her Gold Award by taking part in a sailing expedition. Fenella commented, "I will have to be courageous and determined while facing the challenges that are thrown at me in order to complete the course and gain the qualification."
Beth has a passion for sailing and will be taking part in the second leg of the Tall Ships Race from Riga in Latvia to Szczecin in Poland, completing the residential section of her Gold Award. The JTYAF is delighted to support this adventure which will provide Beth with a once in a lifetime opportunity to develop a whole range of skills in this unique environment. Beth explained, "I enjoy setting new goals and am looking forward to the challenge of the expedition, meeting new people, and improving communication and teamwork skills."
