Dorset Fire and Rescue Service Cadets are off to Germany

Four lucky Fire Cadets who recently passed out from the Christchurch Dorset Fire and Rescue Service Cadet Scheme, have been selected to travel to Germany this summer as part of the European Cadet Exchange.  The JTYAF is delighted to support this fantastic opportunity by providing a bursary award to pay for the air fares.

The Dorset Fire and Rescue Service (DFRS) has been working with partners in both France and Germany to offer opportunities for Cadets from all three countries to meet together, exchange skills and knowledge on firefighting and gain a better understanding of how each fire and rescue service works.   The Fire Cadets will spend 5 days in Bremerhaven forming the second part of the programme which started last year when a group of Fire Cadets from Cherbourg and Bremerhaven came over to Dorset to meet and work with Fire Cadets in the UK.

As part of the exchange the Fire Cadets will keep a video diary which we look forward to seeing on their return.

The picture above shows the Christchurch Fire Cadets working on Combination Drills during their Pass Out.  The Cadets put on an exceptional display of their competence which they had gained during the twenty week course and had all obtained a BTEC Level One qualification in the process.
