Bournemouth Youth Handbell Team on Tour in Milan 2015
/The Bournemouth Youth Handbell Team (BYHT) has recently received a concert tour invitation to Milan where they will perform in April 2015. This is an exciting opportunity which will provide an invaluable experience for these talented young musicians and the JTYAF is delighted to be able to support them by part funding the expenses for five of the performers.
The BYHT is a talented and highly skilled ensemble of young people aged from 12-17 years, which has established an excellent reputation. They have developed a high level of musicianship through a musical repertoire ranging from Bach to Blues, including an exciting and distinctive contemporary work combining African drumming with Handbell ringing. An important part of the BYHT's work involves encouraging young people to learn the skills of working closely as members of a team - important skills for life.
The BYHT has performed locally at many venues including the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre, Wimborne Minster and Poole's Lighthouse Theatre and in 2010 were honoured to have the opportunity to perform in the Barbican Concert Hall in London.
We wish them every success for their Concert Tour of Milan in April 2015.
