Councillor Steve Lugg, newly appointed Chairman of East Dorset District Council, has recently declared a year of support for two charities.  The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) was privileged to be chosen as one of these charities and would like to thank Cllr Lugg for his continued support. This exciting announcement was made at the charming vintage tearoom The Orange Teapot in Ferndown where guests enjoyed a fabulous traditional afternoon tea.

The Chairman's charity objectives for the year are to help support the homeless and to offer assistance to local young adults transitioning into work.  To this end he looks to help PASHA who run three homeless hostels, and the John Thornton Young Achiever's Foundation, specifically offering further support to the Ferndown Upper School Centre of Excellence and Industrial Liaison (CEIL).

He has already planned three sensational events for the coming months in aid of his chosen charities:-

  • Friday 20th November -  Cabaret with a Burlesque Show
  • Saturday 20th February – East Dorset District Ball
  • Saturday 11th March – An Evening with Matt Black & Friends

The venue for all three events is the Barrington Theatre and tickets will be available at the box office and online.

Cllr Lugg isn't waiting until November to get started though!  The first event on the agenda is Chopsticks and Tunes - Tickets are just £15 per head for delicious Chinese food, epic songs from Jenny Oag and you'll be helping two great causes into the bargain!  You'll also see him at Waitrose on Friday 10th July 10-12noon so why not pop in and say hello.
