The JTYAF has sponsored the European Exchange for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Service Cadets for the last 7 years and is delighted to support this exciting initiative.  This year the Dorset & Wiltshire Cadets from the Blandford Fire Cadet Programme were the hosts to their counterparts from La Manche Fire Service in France and Bremerhaven Fire Service in Germany.

The exchange scheme provides a unique opportunity for the cadets to undergo an application/selection process and then have the privilege of representing the Dorset & Wilts Fire and Rescue Service. This project gives them the chance to communicate in French and German while taking part in a whole range of activities, with a great emphasis on team building skills.

The picture above shows Chief Fire Officer Ansell with the Mayor of Weymouth and Peter Thornton, exchanging gifts with the Fire Cadets as they begin their challenging but rewarding 3 days together.
