Exciting Awards for Girl Guides
/Future swimming champ A Girl Guide has been awarded funds to support her passion for swimming.
She trains up to 10 hours every week as well as 2 hours land training. In October she hopes to travel to a Swimming Camp in Majorca to improve training skills and enhance stamina. She is bag packing to help fund the travel, and one day hopes to get to the Nationals.
Musical passion
Another Girl Guide and member of the Wessex Junior and Youth Fanfare has been awarded funds to support her passion of music.
She's already a talented pianist and also plays the French horn. She's using the award to purchase her own viola and aims to complete her Grade 8 by the time she finishes school and play in the Wessex Youth Orchestra.
World Scout Jamboree in Japan
A member of 4th Corfe Mullen Girl Guides has been awarded funds to travel to the World Scout Jamboree in Japan. She is one of 18 Girl Guides from the South West chosen to attend the gathering with around 30,000 people from around the world.
During her adventure in Japan she hopes to learn more about the culture, become more independent being away from home, improve her leaderships and team skills as well as visit Hiroshima.
