Expedition in Sierra Nevada - Biggest Challenge So Far

We recently received the email below from a young lady who has now completed her Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award Expedition with a little help from the JTYAF.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for giving me the opportunity to go on my gold Duke of Edinburgh’s expedition! I got back from 4 days of hiking in the Sierra Nevada on Saturday with achy legs but a massive sense of accomplishment. It was probably the biggest challenge of my life so far, it was so steep and hot that one day it took us 10 hours just to walk 8km because we were climbing 1500m in ascent! However I’m so glad I did it, the feeling when we made it to our last checkpoint was phenomenal and we could see the mountains that we had climbed with great pride. None of this would have been possible for me without the award and I wanted to thank you.
