St Michael's Middle School and their Tall Ships Adventure

St Michaels thank you.JPG

The JTYAF contributed towards an adventure with the Tall Ships Youth Trust for 10 young people from St Michael’s Middle School. They set sail on Monday 12th July and after their return we received lots of lovely thank you letters telling us all about their exciting experiences and what it had meant to them. These are just a few extracts.

Thank you to Tall Ships and JTYAF for my fantastic trip on Challenger 1. I had the most amazing week learning how to sail. I particularly enjoyed climbing the mast and pushing myself out of my comfort zone. It was great making new friends and team working - not always a strong point of mine. Thank you again, I will never forget the experience.

How can I start? Eye opening. Exhilerating. Amazing. These 3 words don’t come anywhere close to explaining what a brilliant time I had on the boat…….

I was able to learn a lot from the crew and about myself. It was a fantastic journey, metaphorically and physically.

…it was all so fun and thrilling for me especially since I was quite lazy and my motivation has been quite low, but the trip alone gave me energy and motivation 24/7.

….Although it was a lot of hard work like raising and lowering the sails, cleaning the deck and raising the anchor, it was still really fun. I even got to steer the boat.
