The JTYAF is delighted to contribute towards a trip for a group of 15 students from Ferndown Upper School making it accessible for them and giving them the opportunity to attend a Design and Technology Conference in Paris.

Parley First School has recently received an award to refurbish a boat which will be used to promote well being and provide a special space for the children at play time.

A member of the Bournemouth Youth Marching Band (BYMB) with ambitions to join the Royal Marine Band Service has received an award from the JTYAF to help him to achieve his dream.

an amazing 6 weeks of cricket and have learnt so much in my first match that I played after my first coaching session I topped scored with 44 runs. My coach Steve at Bournemouth has said how much I have improved within 6 weeks, also my Blandford club have put my name forward to play for Dorset which I am keeping my fingers crossed I get selected.

The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation supported Megan from Ferndown Middle School with a bursary for a cookery course when she was in year 5. This grant enabled Megan to pursue her passion for cooking and she has participated in many cookery events/challenges.

A young Fire Cadet who is currently taking part in the Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Service Cadets Scheme has also embarked on her Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

The NCO Team at 874 (Sherbourne) Squadron RAF Air Cadets applied to the JTYAF for funding to purchase an MTa Team Kit. John’s Foundation was delighted to make this award to support leadership training at the squadron and we look forward to hearing all about their achievements.

The Trustees of the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) were delighted to make awards of £34,000 to 6 local schools in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Awards were made to the Headteachers with volunteers, students and trustees gathered to celebrate this fantastic achievement.

We were delighted to hear that all the Covid tests were negative and Lauren has jetted off to take part in the World Cheer leading Competition in Florida. The JTYAF made this trip possible and we wish her and the team every success. We look forward to hearing all about it!

The JTYAF is delighted to support a 15 year old school girl from Ferndown who has been selected to represent England as a trainer at the World Agility Open in the Netherlands.

The new Jubilee Fund of £33,000 has been made available to local schools to support the mental health and well being of young people in our community. Applications are in and we are absolutely delighted to receive requests for funding support for so many outstanding projects which will make a real difference to the lives of local youngsters.

The JTYAF is supporting a Tall Ships adventure aboard a Challenger yatcht for 20 young people from St Michael’s Middle School.

Here at the JTYAF we were delighted to receive a wonderful collection of thank you’s from Portland Class and Braille Class at Beaucroft Foundation School.
