Junior Leaders Smashing it with £12,000 raised for the JTYAF
/We can’t thank the Air Cadet Junior Leaders on Course 22 enough for their fantastic support of John’s Foundation. This remarkable group of young people have raised an incredible £12,000 over the last couple of months by organising all manner of fundraising events and activities for the JTYAF.
Their fundraising is a crucial support to the continued work of the JTYAF and every step they take and every pound they raise makes a huge difference to the lives of young people, who need our support now more than ever before.
Pete and Linda were lucky enough to be able to meet one of these outstanding youngsters when a young man set himself a challenge to cycle from Aylesbury to John’s old Air Cadet Squadron in Ferndown. A total of !06 miles!! He completed the route in just under 71/2 hours and arrived at 2358 (Ferndown) Squadron right on schedule. He has raised a fantastic £580 in the process.
This is just one example of the phenomenal efforts being made in John’s name. Please visit the Junior Leading Fundraising platform below where you can get a full details of the activities of the 60 students on Junior Leaders Course 22 as they try to raise as much money as possible for the JTYAF. There are 4 'Flights' of 15 students who are all competing against each other to raise as much as possible.
The Thornton family are humbled by this support as John would be too. John Thornton took part in Junior Leaders Course 4 and he was fiercely proud of his link with this great course. The JTYAF is privileged to have the opportunity to support the development of these talented young men and women.
